Do you know where all the hours of work, of fear, of injuries on your knees or elbows have gone … And which have allowed you to learn to walk, to run, or to ride a bike? These very real hours, some of which have been painful, seem to you to be forgotten or far away.
All you have left is this simple ability to get up, to go for a coffee, to walk to the bakery to bring back to those you love bread, a croissant, … A man’ouchi (a delicious Lebanese cake). And maybe do your morning jogging before going to work?
And that’s the habit. It is an ability, sometimes difficult to obtain, which is then easily done. Of course, it works for both good and bad habits. It may even be that for a time a habit is good. For example, when you are a kid ask someone to help us explain a math problem. But once grown up this can start to be a problem. As soon as a difficulty arrives and it is necessary to calculate … Such great person relies on his entourage …. And becomes dependent.
It is the force of habits that forge us behaviors and make us believe that it is “our character” and sometimes even our “Karma”.
Change is about changing habits ?
Certain habits may have formed very early in our lives. Such a person who has lacked security in his childhood has developed the habit of controlling everything. A child who feels rejected builds his personality by seeking isolation for fear of suffering again. To change then is to set up a process that transforms emotions, thoughts, behavior and the relationship to one’s own body.
Moving from thought, behavior, automatic emotion to alternative thinking / emotion / behavior is changing that.

Become aware of yourself
Definitively NLP is one of those “solution-oriented” therapy or change techniques. The first thing to do is in this logic to define what you want. Set a kind of vision, even a little ideal of the person you want to be at the end of your efforts. This will then allow you to deduce long-term goals, in the short term, and finally the first step to take immediately.
NLP began with the observation and “modeling” of exceptional therapists like Virgina Satir, Fritz Perl, and especially Milton Erickson. It is therefore basically a therapeutic method. But very quickly she gave birth to coaching as we know it today.
The goal you are looking for is not healing (and one wonders what it might be) but becoming the person you want to be in the deepest part of you.
Refresh your inner resources of happiness
Once the goal is set, there is more to be done to accomplish it. It is at this moment that the “problems” reappear. But problems are not then something to understand but an obstacle to overcome. Shyness or lack of self-esteem no longer exist as a problem, but as a limitation that prevents the champion from speaking in public, for example.
In linguistics, for example, we will use the “linguistic meta-model” which allows us to discover that the problem is above all a set of beliefs and simplifications in which the champion believes and which radically reduces his perception of reality, but also (and especially of his abilities and who he is).
In Neuro-Linguistics techniques will be used to disable automatic emotional responses to a particular stimulus.
Still in linguistics we will decode the usual answers of our system of representation of the reality. (for example metas programs)
It is by successfully mobilizing the intimate resources of his life that the person achieves his goals. When he succeeds this allows him to build another perception of reality (map of the world) where he is the one who succeeds … the problem is dissolved in success!
Discover and change automatic chaining
The “problem” is then considered not as a defect, or a fatality but as a process. A thought> causes an emotion> that provokes a reaction. These processes are internal to the person and are in a sense a “program” that runs. As the “problem” is not the past but the current functioning of the mind it is easier to change quickly.
Spot this program, give the person the means to become aware of it, then allow him to regain power over his inner processes. This is the NLP project. Richand Bandler said in one of the founding books of the method “learn how to control your brain”. (a brain to change).
Develop a “neuro linguistic” coherence around your values.
